Srinagar, Mar 25 (KNO): The Meteorological Centre Srinagar on Wednesday predicted fresh spells of rain and snowfall across Jammu and Kashmir from March 26 onwards. An official of the MeT Centre told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the weather is expected to remain largely dry till the evening of March 26, after which light rain, snow, thunder and gusty winds are likely at many places. “A more active weather phase is predicted between March 29 and 30, with generally cloudy conditions and the possibility of light to moderate rain in plains and snowfall over higher reaches at several locations. Thunder and gusty winds with speeds of 40–50 kmph may continue till the forenoon of March 31,” the official added. “On March 31, the region is likely to witness generally cloudy skies with brief spells of light rain or snow at scattered places, while partly to generally cloudy conditions are expected from April 1 to 4,” he said. The MeT office has also issued an advisory warning of moderate snowfall over a few higher reaches accompanied by thunder, lightning and gusty winds between the night of March 28 and March 30. Farmers have been advised to suspend agricultural operations on March 26 and from March 29 to 31, while travellers have been asked to follow traffic advisories and plan their movement accordingly during the same period—(KNO)
